About Us

Ordnance Developments Limited (ODL) manufacturers training and special purpose ammunition for military and law enforcement with over 30 years experience. 

Products include blanks, short-range training ammunition, precision and anti material ammunition and large calibre blanks up to 105mm. Large capacity linking capibilties in 5.56, 7.62 and .50 cal

Innovation

As a specialist manufacturer of training blank and frangible ammunition, in 5.56mm, 7.62mm and 9mm A range of Ordnance Services are undertaken by ODL including high-speed linking large or small volume. The supply of NATO and U.S.Mil-spec links, inspection and packing of ammunition stores and reworking of De-Mil of surplus munitions.

Our Mission

We represent a number of specialist (and leading) ordnance companies in selected markets and back these products with significant infrastructure, technical support and full customer service. The team at ODL actively pursue high technical standards and monitor systems under ISO 9001:2015. Operating inspection systems under MIL-STD-105D/E MIL-STD-636 and others has formed a sound basis for the introduction of a quality system since 1997.

Military Training

Military customers demand exemplary product that is fit for purpose. ODL has worked closely with the Defence Forces of leading countries and also smaller more expeditionary forces and can quickly understand their requirements for training. ODL is the present supplier to the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF) for blank training ammunition.

ODL offers a proven product in blank training ammunition. Other benefits included:

  • A dedicated blank manufacturer, minimising the risk of contamination with a factory that manufactures ball and blank ammunition.
  • An innovative product with a clear differentiation between the ball and blank ammunition.
  • Innovative clear plastic packaging to assist with identification of contamination between the ball and blank ammunition. An enviromentally friendly carton option is also available.
  • Steel cartridge case, this makes our blank ammunition highly competitive against brass.

Law Enforcement

Police and Special units whose training is pivotal to preparation for operational policing require reliable, safe and quality ammunition that meets exacting tolerances and requirements. ODL offers a lead-free frangible range and can provide custom runs for specialised units. 

Linking Capabilities

For more than 20 years, ODL has been involved in large volume linking of small arms cartridges.ODL are specialists in 5.56mm, 7.62x51mm and .50 calibre. But have the ability to easily adapt to our clients specific needs be it large or small volume runs.

What we do best

ODL is always looking to implement techniques and/or product attributes that enhance customer satisfaction while maintaining a competitive edge and providing a cost-effective solution. One feature of our training ammunition that ODL adopted early was colour differentiation of our training ammunition. This assists in the detection of the ball and blank contamination.

 

Certification

MIL-SPEC documentation, specification and standards are normal to trade for ODL in all aspects of product procurement, manufacture and delivery. To maintain our high standards and look for current best practice, ODL is certified by Telarc ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
